Don Carlitos acquired his first plot of land through inheritance from his father. his coffee is grown underneath shade trees that provide habitat for birds, including migratory species, whose impressive journeys can take them from US and Canada all the way to coffee farms in Latin America. We first met Don Carlitos on an origin trip to Honduras.
Through APCAFI, Smithsonian bird friendly program & Symposium & Sheard coffee he has achieved certification with the Bird Friendly seal, highlighting its commitment to the environment and conservation.
Don Carlitos is a family man. He has a son and two daughters. He is also a beekeeper, following in the footsteps of his father, who has been beekeeping for over 40 years.
They produce approximately 300 bottles of honey per year.The beehives are located near the farm and his home.The goal is to contribute to the pollination and flowering of the coffee, as well as to generate extra income for the family.
